Samuel Lee Murray
Birth: Jun. 27, 1963
Danville
Hendricks County
Indiana, USA
Death: Aug. 5, 1999
Columbus
Bartholomew County
Indiana, USA

The son of Fern (Sullivan) and Virl Lee Murray. He was the second of five children. His sister, Kay, is the oldest. The other three siblings are brothers, Vance, Dwayne and Wayne, the latter two being twins.

Sam married Kimberly Jeffries on September 29, 1984. They had three children: Dustyn Lee, Samuel Adam and Chelsea Grace.

Sam had brain cancer which sadly took him way too early. But even as he was very ill, he testified of his faith and was an inspiration to many. He was a loving son, brother, husband and father.

His funeral service was held at Reed & Jewell Funeral Home. His brother, Wayne, delivered one of the best eulogies I have ever heard. It made me proud to be his cousin. While everyone was terribly sad for the loss of this young man, his funeral truly was a celebration of the life Samuel Lee Murray led while on this earth and a celebration of the eternal life he had begun.

His obituary from the August 07, 1999 Republic [Columbus, Indiana]:

Samuel Lee Murray, 36, of North Road 700W died at 10:44 a.m. Thursday, August 5, 1999, at Columbus Regional Hospital. He was a 1981 graduate of Columbus North High School, served in the National Guard and was a team leader at NTN Driveshaft. He was a member of Midway Assembly of God where he was youth pastor and chaplain. Funeral will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Myers Funeral Service, Reed and Jewell Chapel on 25th Street, with the Revs. David Wigington and Wayne Murray officiating. Calling will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Midway Assembly of God. Mr. Murray was born in Hendricks County June 27, 1963, the son of the Rev. Virl L. and Fern Sullivan Murray of Columbus. He married Kim Jeffries September 29, 1984, in Columbus. She survives. Other survivors include children, Chelsea, Dustyn and Adam Murray, all of Columbus; a sister, Kay Gibson of Taylorsville; and brothers, Vance and Dwayne Murray, both of Columbus, and Wayne Murray of New Whiteland.

A later obituary from the same publication on August 12, 1999:
