PFC James Walter Floyd, Vietnam Veteran, resident of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Private First Class James Walter Floyd was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, PFC Floyd served our country until October 10th, 1965 in South Vietnam. He was 19 years old and was not married. It was reported that James died from an undetermined explosion. His body was recovered. James was born on March 6th, 1946 in Big Island, Virginia. PFC Floyd is on panel 02E, line 115 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

He is the Son of Walter T. Floyd, Big Island, Virginia and Mrs Maxine T Wright, 305 Polo Street #19, Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He has two brothers Ray & Calvin, one sister-Kay, two half brothers, Kenny & Kenny Wright.
When he was living on their 275 acre farm in Virginia he liked to run his coon dogs and ride "Sonny" their horse.

He served as a Private First Class with Bravo Company, 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, "The Rock", 173rd Airborne Brigade, USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Infantryman's Badge(CIB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, Paratrooper Jump Wings, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal and The Good Conduct Medal.
