Harvey Ellis Pennington, age 84 of Louisville, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2014. He was preceded in death by his wife, Onda Mae Pennington in 2012.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with burial to follow at 1pm at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky. Visitation will be Monday, August 25th from 5-8pm at the funeral home.
Harvey (Tom) Ellis Pennington went home to be with his Lord and join his loving wife, Onda Mae, on August 21st, 2014. Harvey was born October 19, 1929 in Ashland, KY the son of A.M. and Demaris Carter Pennington. He was a member of Advance Methodist Church of Flatwoods, KY. Harvey was a U.S. Marine for 21 years and proudly served during the Vietnam War. After retiring from the military as a CWO2 he worked as a locomotive engineer for CSX Railroad where he later retired and traveled the U.S. with family and friends. Preceding him in death were his parents and his brothers A.B., William, Burris and A.M. (Jr.) Pennington.
Harvey was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is the father of three children Harvey E. Pennington II (Pat) and Kimberly P. Dunaway (Robert) of Louisville and Tara Witt (Ashley) of Irvine, KY, 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and his loving dachshund, Arod. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Elizabeth Mylott and Dorothy Corbett of Columbus, OH and Janelle Pennington of Ashland, KY.
Funeral services will be 10:30am Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 235 Juneau Drive with burial to follow at 1pm at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to the staff of Atria Stony Brook where Harvey lived for 2 years and Meadowview Health & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of Harvey during his final days.
