Mrs. Ida Jane Merritt, 82, widow of Benjamin F. Merritt, died at 1:55 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the family home in the Sweet Ireland neighborhood. She was taken ill about two weeks ago of pneumonia, but was recovering when she suffered a relapse a few days ago.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Barkes and Albright funeral home. The Rev. T.K. Smith will be in charge. Burial will be made in Daugherty Cemetery south of Walesboro. The casket will be open at 6 o'clock tonight and until time of services.
Mrs. Merritt spent practically all her life in the county. She was married in 1881 to Mr. Merritt and lived in the Sweet Ireland neighborhood after that. She was one of the oldest members of the Ogilville Christian church.
Survivors are three sons, Earl at home, Thomas and Alva of Rush county; 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a brother, Thomas Cox of Waymansville.
