|Death: ||Aug. 13, 1911|
He was from Virginia. In the steel town of Coatesville, Pennsylvania after working hard - Zachariah did what many did as recreation pursuit - he got drunk. While inebriated - he fired several shots from his pistol - hitting no one. A deputy named Edgar Rice tried to arrest Walker, but Walker killed him. He then fled to nearby barn to sleep. A posse was sent to hunt for him. He hid in a tree, and tried to commit suicide, but only shot himself in the jaw with the gun - and fell from the tree. He was taken to a nearby hospital and chained to the bed. A mob broke into the hospital and dragged him out still attached to the foot-board. A huge bonfire was built.
