Lynched/burned at the stake
Newman, Georgia

Accused of murdering farmer Andrew (or Alfred) Cranford and arranging the outrage of his wife by another man for money, by Lige Strickland, a negro preacher.

Strickland was found lynched April 25, as was Albert Sewell.

Hose was later defended in print by the Afro-American League, which asserted there was no assault on the wife, and that Cranford was killed in self defense.

His body was said to have been burned to ash and spread to the wind.
