John owned & operated Gibbs Express Co. in Waltham for over 55 years. The company was was founded in 1842 by Col. William Gibbs, and when he retired in 2005 Gibbs Express was the oldest operating business in Waltham. He began working for the company in his teens alongside his father.
A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of his life was held at Saint Bernard's Church in West Newton where he had been a parishioner his entire life.
