Jody's Hands

How do you begin to know, or even try to understand
Something so devastating, something seeemingly unplanned.
Such a young precious soul, whom we all knew and loved
Meandering down the path of life with patience, kindness and love.
For if you knew Jody, you knew his mannerisms and ways
You knew his heart was full, each and every day.
His tender smile, his quiet being, his love for family and friends.
If you ever needed anything, on Jody you could depend.

How do you begin to learn, or even try to understand
Just look upon your heart, then look down at your hand.

Jody's hands were very special, but not everyone would have known.
Everything those strong hands did, may not have always shown.
Little things that seem so small, but in fact are quite a feat,
Simple little carvings in soap, turn out to be so neat.
Jody loved to use his hands you see, for many different things.
Every Wednesday night for the kids, his hands became their swing.

How do you begin to live, or even try to understand
Just have faith in God above and know it's in His plan.
A nice young man, with a heart much bigger than his frame
If you were ever around him, you knew you would never be the same.
His face was tender, with his quiet, gentle smile
His stature was lofty, his heart like that of a sweet child.

A Christian he was for sure, there is no doubt whatsoever
One he gave his life to the Lord, it was sealed in Heaven forever.
Our lives are as opened books, that people read each and every day
Jody's was one of the best, he followed Christ each step of the way.

How do you begin to move on, or even try to understand
Just look up to Heaven, let Jesus hold your hand.
Jody's hands were similar to Christ's, for his too, contained a scar.
Helping hands he used everyday at work, or helping the RA's build and paint their cars.
Hands that loved to restore ole' tractors, taking time with each small part
Rebuilding it complete, like Christ does with us, no matter from where we start.

And let's not forget just how much he loved to hunt for deer
That great big buck, he knew was there, and his time was drawing near.
How do you begin to look ahead, or even try to understand
Just smile, remember Jody, and remember his big strong hands.

Each day we have is a gift, it is our choice in what we do with that
Jody spent his with family and friends, serving Christ with no regret in it.
His example was one that we should all follow, and know not to go it alone.
Even his class ring was a witness of his love for God, with the cross right under the stone.

This is how you begin to smile and now we can all understand
Jody lived by faith, walked with God, it was all a part of His plan.
Hold on to the memories, look back and smile, remember the Jody we all love.
He is in heaven with Jesus and God, he made it home to Heaven above.

WE LOVE YOU JODY-PODY! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
