Motorcycle and tractor pulling showman and champion, self made mechanical engineer. Became famous by exhibiting drag racing Chevrolet V-8 powered motorcycles, "Widowmaker" and "Bloody Mary." A spectacular shut down accident at Onondaga Dragway prompted him to reconsider his choice of exhibition vehicles. He chose drag race Allison V-12 station wagons for a time then chose Allison powered pull tractors for which he not only won many championships but became the expert to go to on the performance aspects of the Allison engines. His many record setting machines gained him entry into the 1973 Guinness Book of World Records, induction into the 1992 Michigan Motorsports Hall of Fame and "World Champion" tractor pulling title two years in a row. His entrepreneur skills included publicizing his mechanical accomplishments in book and videos for all to share. His parents were Howard and Sheila (Huxley) Potter, he is survived by son Jack and Deborah Potter, daughter Alison (Potter) and David Tiihonen, all of Howell, Michigan, grandchildren, William, Jennifer, Jacob and Emily and three sisters. He graduated from Ithica H. S., class of 1959.
