George Puscas, a former sports editor and longtime Detroit Free Press columnist who covered Detroit sports for decades entered eternal life on Friday, April 25, 2008, at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Pontiac from congestive heart failure. He was 81 years old. He was a resident of Beverly Hills, Michigan.
George was a proud veteran of the United States Army WWII.
He was the beloved husband of Delphine (nee Banka) for 57 years. Dear father of James G. (Dawn), Charles J. (Lily), George N. "Buddy" and Victoria Jester (Daniel). Grandfather of Dietrich, Tatiana, Jack, Sarah, Joe and Jamie. Brother of Flora Betea and Elizabeth Fisco. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Monday, April 28, 2008 5-8pm and Tuesday, April 29, 2008, 3-8pm at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave. (between 13 and 14 Mile Roads.) Prayers, Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, April 30, 2008, 10:00 am at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3695 Lincoln at Lahser, Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Visitation at church begins at 9:30am.
