A member of the Donner/Reed Party.
Lemuel was the son of Jeremiah Burns & Levinah W. Jackson Murphy. He set out with "The Forlorn Hope" in December of 1846. The boy was said to be full of courage, patient and "of the martyr type." He was feeble when the group started from the lake camp, but he was determined to go and bring back help. He perished about two o'clock in the morning under a bright moonlit sky.
