Evelyn Louise Nunes, the little daughter of Mr and Mrs John Nunes, who resides a few miles this side of Niomo was fatally scalded on Monday Afternoon. Mr. Nunes who was scalding a hog, had a kettle of scalding water on, and had warned the children who were playing near by to keep away from the kettle.
While his attention was directed to other work, the little girl backed into the hot water, and was scalded from head to foot. The child was brought here for medical treatment immediately but died several hours after. She was 4 years, 4 months and 21 days old.
The funeral was held on Thursday morning at 10 O'clock requiem high mass being celebrated at the Catholic Church with Rev. Father Coen in charge. Interment was held in the local cemetery.
It was one of the largest and saddest funerals held here in many years and the grief stricken parents have the sympathy of a large circle of friends and acquaintances.
