Tee was born to William and Susie Smith. She attended East Texas State Teachers College in Commerce, and in the 1940s, moved to Houston where she worked for oilman Claude Hamil. In 1954, she met her great love, Henry Smith. After their marriage, she moved to Hitchcock where she resided for nearly 50 years. Henry preceded her in death in 1983. She was actively involved in community affairs and taught first grade at Stewart Elementary in Hitchcock and Webster Elementary in Clear Creek ISD. Tee loved her home, her family and friends and collecting beautiful things. She was a devoted mother, the consummate hostess, and a loving caregiver, providing care for a number of family members during their final days. She is survived by her son, Bill Freeman, and his wife, Beverly, of Sugar Land, and her granddaughter, Vanessa. Her ashes will be scattered in Galveston Bay in the same location as her husband Henry.
