She was born the daughter of Lucile Blake Stroud and George Frank Stroud. Husband of 65 years, Kenneth Bowen Ford. Survived by children: son and daughter-in- law Dr. Kenneth Ford, Jr. and Jaunea of Houston, and their children: Bo Ford, Aimee Byrd, Casey Ford, and Katie Stiles; daughter and son-in-law Janie and James Slack of Lufkin, and their children; Shannon Hofmann, Jessica Nester, and Cameron Slack; daughter and son-in-law Sally and Terry Kelly of Dallas and their children: Scott Kelly, Allison Murphy, and Sarah Jones; daughter Blake Ford of Houston, and her children Trey, Ford, Lee, and Amanda SantaMaria. She was known as Momadee to her 14 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Jane is also survived by her sister Blake Sparenberg of Austin, brother and sister-in-law Dr. Tom and Pete Ford of Houston, sister-in-law Mary Stroud of St. Louis, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins with special mention of Betty Blake Rickenbacher of Dallas. She is preceded in death by her brother George Frank Stroud, Jr. of St. Louis. She received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Texas in Austin in 1941 where Jane was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha. She was a finalist for sweetheart of the University, Goodfellow Outstanding Student, and Blue Bonnet Belle nominee. Jane was a member of the Junior League of Houston, and the Blue Bird Circle for over 60 years. Much of her life was dedicated to many different volunteer services. The Blue Bird Clinic for children with Neurological Disorders and Neurosensory Center at Methodist Hospital were two of her favorites. She and her husband established scholarships to help students attend college and to enable single parents to send their children to church day school. Jane and Kenny were charter members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and are now members of the First United Methodist Church. Momadee had an incredible sense of humor! We know she is in Heaven playing bridge with dear friends, enjoying a margarita with extra fresh limes, and eating crisp bacon, soft scrambled eggs, and macaroons. She is laughing, singing, and dancing to Big Band Music.
