Private Cruse was a member of the 42nd Transportation Truck Company, U.S. Army. On August 11, 1953, he drowned while bathing in the Soyang River, North Korea. He was 20-years old. Private Cruse was awarded the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
