Johnny Maisano a Krebs native, will have his named engraved into the monument at a ceremony during National Police Week in Washington, D.C.
The memorial honors more than19,000 U.S. law enforcement officers who have died in the line of duty.
“My father was proud to serve in law enforcement,” said his son Jim Maisano deputy chief of the Norman Police Department.
The former game warden for the Oklahoma Department Wildlife Conservation was also the Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Officer of the Year in 1986.
Born in Krebs in 1936. Maisano died of Lyme Disease in 1990 at the age of 56.
“For me it is an honor to see him being added to the memorial,” Jim Maisano said.
One of the reasons he is being honored is because of his work outdoors which ultimately led to his death, according to Col. Robert J. Fleenor, chief of law enforcement for the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
