Death: Jun. 20, 1940

Delphos Republican
June 27, 1940

Zetta Isabelle Buffington was born on a farm near Delphos, Kansas October 5, 1890, and passed away at the hospital in Larned, Kansas June 20, 1940. She was the daughter of the late William and Nora Simmons. Her mother died when she was four years old and her father in January of this year.

She was married to Boone Buffington in September, 1909. She lived on farms near Culver, Simpson and Delphos until 1935, when her home was broken up. Since then she has made her home with her sister at Sabetha, except when she was in the hospital. She has been in very poor health for several years and has suffered a great deal, from which death brought release.

She united with the Presbyterian Church of Culver in 1916.

She was a member of the Sunshine Club south of Delphos which she attended and enjoyed very much while she was in that community.

She was very industrious and generous hearted, always ready to help anyone in need.

She leaves her stepmother, Mrs. Etta Simmons, of Englewood, Colo., two brothers, J.W. Simmons of De Beque, Colo., and Dr. L.W. Simmons of Hope, Kansas; seven sisters, Mrs. Lew Skinner of Sabetha, Kansas; Mrs. Henry Obert of Esbon, Kansas; Mrs. George Herrmann of Palatine, Illinois; Mrs. H.W. Hemphill of Oregon City, Oregon, Mrs. Disa Haun of Englewood, Colorado; Mrs. Allen Buffington of Pando, Colo., and Mrs. Ed Latham of Grand Valley, Colorado, and one stepbrother, Wayne Hazlett, of Hiawatha, Kansas, also several nieces and nephews. One sister and one brother preceded her in death.

Funeral services were conducted from the Hartley Funeral Home and the Presbyterian Church of Delphos by Rev. J.A. McClellan Sunday afternoon, June 23. Interment was in the Delphos Cemetery. The pallbearers were old friends of the family: Ray Everley, Jess McKain, Harry Parrish, Earl and Carl Hurtig and Oscar Brock. Music was in charge of Mrs. Wendell Wilkins assisted by Miss Norline Manuel, B.S. Chance and Irl Hogg.
