Evelyn C. Troie
Evelyn C. Troie, of Waltham, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at the Maristhill Nursing Home in Waltham. She was 85. Mrs. Troie was born in Boston to the late Denis and Mary (McCormick) Coleman. She was raised in Newton and moved to Waltham 62 years ago. Evelyn was an active member and volunteer for many groups and organizations. She was the past president of the Banks School PTO, the Girl Scout Leader Neighborhood Chairperson, Cedar Hill Girl Scout camp director and business manager, a member of the Waltham Junior Womens Club, a member of the Waltham Garden Club, a Waltham Hospital Association board member, a volunteer at Waltham Hospital for 27 years, and most recently she a member of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill of Newton-Wellesley, and was the MDDA at McLean Hospital. In 1962, she won the award for logging the most volunteer hours in the state. She was the beloved wife of the late William A. Troie, and sister of the late John, William, and Mary Coleman. She is survived by her loving children William D. Troie of Virginia and Betty Jane Troie of Watertown, and her cherished grandchildren William Bret Troie of Virginia, and Bart Troie of Texas. A Memorial Service in celebration of Evelyns life will be held Saturday, May 1, 2010 at the Beth Eden Baptist Church, 84 Maple St., Waltham, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. The Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, assisted the family with arrangements.
