"Frederick W. Lehman, 58, a retired grocer, residing at 1009 Chestnut street, died at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning of Bright's Disease. He was born in Philadelphia and was the son of Frederick and Mary Lehman. He came to Reading when he was two years old. He conducted a grocery store at the corner of Tenth and Chestnut streets for many years, the same store which his father had conducted for over 50 years. He was a member of St. John's German Lutheran Church and these organizations: St. John Lodge, no.435, F.and A.M.; Reading Commandery. no.42, Knights Templar; Mt Penn Lodge, no.518, I.O.O.F; Camp 330 P.O.S. of A; and the Rajah Temple. His widow, Wilhelmina (Baier) and these daughters are surviving: Mrs. Joseph L. Babb, Mrs. Harry D. Alspach, Mrs. Paul E. Palm, all of this city, and Elsie, at home."

"The funeral of Frederick W. Lehman was held from his late residence, 1009 Chestnut street at 2 p.m. Saturday. Rev. J.J. Kuendig and Rev. Philip Kirschner conducted the services. The body was dressed in a Knight Templar uniform and rested in a black cloth-covered casket with silver extension bar handles and the plate with name and age. The pallbearers were members of Reading Commandery, No. 42, Knight Templars. Members of these lodges were also present St. John's Lodge, No. 435, F. and A.M.; Excelsior Chapter, No. 237; Rajah Temple, Mt Penn Lodge, No. 518, I.O.O.F.; Camp 330, P.O.S. of A. Interment was made in Charles Evans cemetery.
Among the floral tributes were: Carnations, Mrs. Frank Lauer; pillow, widow; carnations, daughter Dora and husband; sweet peas, daughter Mary and husband; wreath, daughter Elsie; blanket, daughter Minnie and husband; wreath, P.O.S. of A; design, Reading Commandery, No. 42, Knight Templars. Undertaker, Henninger."
