Doris Neva Turnidge died Friday, March 4, 2005, in Sheridan, Oregon, just short of her 91st birthday.
She was born on March 17, 1914, in Willamina, Oregon and was a lifelong resident of the West Valley. She attended the Buck Hollow and Fendell elementary schools before completing her education in Willamina.
She married Vincent Jasper Turnidge October 3, 1931, in McMinnville, Oregon and enjoyed more than 60 years with him before his death. They lived in Willamina until 1939, when they moved to Fort Hill. She moved to Sheridan in 1997 to live with her sister-in-law Goldie Mendenhall.
She worked in the fields as a row boss when she was younger, and later as a cannery worker in Salem, Oregon before her retirement. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, country life and travel. An accomplished quilter, she belonged to a crafts club as well as a saddle club.
Surviving are two sons, Bruce and Keith, eight grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Wayne, and a brother, Howard Scholze.
