Richard Wright, Sr. has been determined [by DNA] to be the biological son of Philbert Wright and Esther Becraft. Richard is believed to have been born abt 1726 , in Maryland where his parents were at the time. He witnessed and signed a document for an uncle [John James] in 1747 and had to be at least 21 years of age to do so.

*Abt 1750 - married 'Ann' [Regardless of what name you see for RW, Sr.'s wife - her name ANN [surname unknown} is the only name you will see on this site -as it appears on 2 legal documents - a deed for property and RW, SR'S WILL as ANN!.

*1752 - 1st son, Benjamin Wright, b. 1752 in Frederick County, Maryland,

*22 Aug 1753 - preparing to move from MD to south.

*2 Feb 1754 Acquire 267 Acres in Patrick Co., VA - Lived there until 1762

*4 May 1762 - Orange County, NC amassed property over the next several years - last acquisition was 1764. Overall, acquired approximately 2,000 acres in NC.

Gravesite Details

About two miles from the Silver Valley Crossroads-on U.S. highway 64-and about ten miles east of Lexington, N. C. This cemetery was at one time on the Wright family farm.
