My great grandfather, Osborne was a son of John Studley Couch and Lois P. Hutchins of Rockingham County, NH. He married Ellen Maria Coolidge 14 June 1869 in Chester NH. Their children were Ida Lois, Ellie Brown, Osborne Dallas Jr., Edward Coolidge, and Jacob Eugene.
He moved to Texas about 1881 and purchased land near Lancaster where he established Tony Ridge Nursery, one of the earliest in Texas, delivering trees and shrubs by hack as far west as San Angelo. He established a road and bridge contracting firm which built roads in Dallas and surrounding counties. In 1901, Osborne moved his family to Zephyr. He was instrumental in establishing the Zephyr First National Bank in 1907 and served as its president until 1916.
He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge, a Mason, Churchman, avid Democrat, very civic-minded and generous in support of community projects.
