Otis Harold Schofill
Fort Valley, GA - Otis Harold Schofill, 91, died Monday, October 27, 2014. Services will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, October 30, 2014, at Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville Street in Fort Valley, with Rev. Bryan McPherson, Dr. Robert Bowman, and Rev. Steve Whitehead officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 1:00PM until service time at the church. Born in Crawford County to the late John Henry and Jeffie Odelia Bowden Schofill, Mr. Schofill was retired from the Charleston Naval Shipyard and served in the Army during World War II. As a member of Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, he was in the "Show Me" Sunday School Class and the first to be named Deacon Emeritus there. A family man that loved to travel, he made sure his family got to experience all the adventures he could provide. He is preceded in death by a son, Otis Harold Schofill, Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oren Hawkins Scholarship Fund, c/o Chamlee Memorial Baptist Church, 1502 Knoxville St., Fort Valley, GA 31030. Rooks Funeral Home in Fort Valley is in charge of arrangements.
