Feb. 17, 1943 - Jan. 12, 2009 MICHIGAN CITY - Cary L. Laramore, 65, of Michigan
City, formerly of Hamlet, died from cancer in St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan
City, IN, on January 12, 2009.
Cary was born at Methodist Hospital in Gary, IN, on February 17, 1943, to the late
Gilbert L. Laramore of Hamlet and the late Marie Laramore Kerchaert of Walkerton.
Cary is survived by his daughter, Lauren Laramore of Stratford, Connecticut, who was
the love of his life. Cary is also survived by his sister, Donna Kearney, and brother -
in-law, Dr. Pat Kearney of Galveston, Texas, and his best friend, Mary. Other family
survivors include Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tracy and family, and Dr. and Mrs. Matthew
(Kristine) Lewis and family. Cary has had the love and support of his cousins, Delores
Newcome, Gwen Watkins, Jim Piper, Sandra Lorts, John Gourlay and Linda Davies, as
well as his nieces, Diane Schlageter, Deborah Conner, Dina Roane, Jackie Lichty, Kelly
Kearney and Erin Conrad. He was also blessed with the love and friendship of his dear
friends, the Fred Jensen family of Hamlet. Cary graduated from Hamlet High School,
received his associate of science in Medical Laboratory Technology from Indiana
University and a bachelor of arts degree from National Louis University. At the time of
his death, Cary was employed by the Northern Indiana Education Foundation in
Michigan City. Cary was very proud to have served his country as a sergeant in the
United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was honored with the Good
Conduct Medal, Airman of the Month, The National Defense Service Medal, the
Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. Per Cary's
request, his remains have been cremated. A visitation will be held in Rannells Funeral
Home, Hamlet, on Saturday, January 17, from 9 to 11 a.m. CST. A memorial prayer
service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with Father Jerry Schweitzer of Sacred Heart
Catholic Church of Wanatah officiating. The family will hold a private burial ceremony
at Fletcher Cemetery in Hamlet with full military honors. Remembrances may be made
to St. Anthony's Franciscan Hospice Services, 1225 E. Coolspring Ave., Michigan City,
IN 46360. Our family would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support
during this painful time. Rest in peace, (Dad) Cary.
