Darrel E. Harvey, 89 of Harrisburg, Neb. died Thursday, November 06, 2003 at Heritage Health Care Center in Gering.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, November 11, 2003 at 10:00 A.M. at the Hull United Methodist Church with Pastor Sheila Taylor officiating. Interment was at Pleasant Hill (Hull) Cemetery. Memorials have been established to the church. Friends called at Gering Memorial Chapel Sunday, Nov. 9 and Monday, Nov. 10.

Darrel was born on October 23, 1914 in Harrisburg, Neb. to Earl and Ethel (Cross) Harvey. He grew up and received his education in the country schools in Banner County.

On May 16, 1938, Darrel was united in marriage to Maxine Watson in Alliance, Neb. Darrel lived in Banner County all of his life as a farmer and rancher. His wife Maxine died April 24, 1995. On July 18, 1997, Darrel married Harlene Stroud. In 1997 Darrel retired and moved to Scottsbluff.

Darrel enjoyed playing cards and riding his horse. He also enjoyed helping his neighbors round up cattle and at branding time.

He belonged to the Knights of Pythias for 25 years and the Harrisburg Volunteer Fireman for many years. He also was a member of the Hull United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Robert and Sharon Harvey of McCook, Neb.; daughter and son-in-law Connie and Jerry Soule of Harrisburg, Neb.; five grandchildren: Dale (Shelley) Harvey of Scott City, Kan., Linda Harvey of Lincoln, Shawn (Heidi) Harvey of Mitchell, Wade (Kimberly) Soule of Scottsbluff and Kimberly (Trevor) Petsch of Meriden, Wyo.; and eight great grandchildren.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Maxine, second wife Harlene, two brothers and four sisters.
