Hong Xuezhi
Birth: Feb. 2, 1913
Death: Nov. 20, 2006

Chinese Army General. Born in the Anhui Province, he joined the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese Red Army in 1929. As a founding member of the Peoples' Republic of China, he became the deputy commander and chief of staff of the 15th Army Group. In 1949, Chairman Mao appointed him deputy secretary-general of the CCP Central Military Commission. He was most noted for his actions during the Korean War. He was vice commander and head of logistics of the Chinese People's Volunteers military forces. As a leading commander the entire war he sent China's Army to help North Korea against U.S.-led United Nations and South Korean troops. He also participated in cease-fire negotiations and was promoted full general in 1955. In 1989, he retired as deputy secretary-general of the Communist Party's Central Military Commission. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
