Herb Gardiner
Birth: May 8, 1891
Death: Jan. 11, 1972

Hall of Fame Professional Hockey Player. Born in Winnipeg, Canada, he was an excellent defenseman and was a member of the Western Canada Hockey League Champion Calgary Tigers team in 1924. He made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Montreal Canadians 1926. In addition to playing with Calgary Tigers (1920-25), he played with the , Montreal Canadians (1926-27, 1929) and Chicago Blackhawks in 1928. He ended his career with a total record of 238 games played, 43 goals, 27 assist and 70 points scored. Following his retirement as a player, he coached several minor professional teams and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1958. He died at age 80 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
