In ceremonies by the National Press Club on October 7,1986 a tree was planted in memory of those journalist who died while covering the conflicts and wars for the American people. At the base of that tree is a marble monument in the form of an open book whose pages proclaim "One who finds a truth lights a torch". (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
