Mary Worrall Pratt Watson is descended from Quaker settlers in Pennsylvania, who arrived along with William Penn in the 1680s. She was a nurse at one of the hospitals in Philadelphia prior to marrying, and also liked to practice photography at an early age, probably with a Kodak box camera. She also quilted and was a huge knitter, even continuing to knit towards the end of her life after losing her eyesight. After the death of her husband, A. Stokes Watson, she lived with both her daughter Helen and family in Farmingdale, NY, and also with her son and family in Montgomery, AL. Mary P. Watson passed away at the Alabama home of her son, J. Maclaren Watson, Sr.
