Richfield Reaper, The (UT) - Thursday, May 22, 2008
Deceased Name: Gary Nordfors
In Loving Memory - Six months have passed since we lost our brother, uncle, and friend, and our sense of loss has not diminished.

Gary was born on May 17, 1941, to Boyd and Leah Nordfors. He passed away after a brief fight with lung cancer Nov. 20, 2007, in Clearwater, Fla., where he had lived for the past 15 years.

He was raised in Annabella. After graduating from South Sevier High School, he moved to Salt Lake City where he went to trade school, joined the Armed Forces and became a Green Beret, and learned to skydive. He then went to work at Hill Air Force Base, and worked on military planes in the Philippines during the Vietnam conflict.

Gary lived life on his own terms, doing what he wanted to do, traveling where he wanted to go, and living where he wanted to be. He loved mining and worked in Utah, Arizona, Oregon and Nevada, and mined for gold on the Amazon River in South America.

He lived in England, Germany, Thailand, the Philippines and Peru. He was preparing to move to Ecuador when he became ill.

Over the years, Gary became a master carpenter and tradesman, building furniture and fixtures on ships, in hotels, banks, mansions, and private homes.

To those who knew him, he was an honest, hardworking man of integrity. He is missed deeply by those he left behind including, brother, Leon Nordfors; sisters, Sally (Ken) Madsen; LeaRae (Stan) Caldwell; Lorelie (Randy) Lefler; Leslie (Todd) Smith; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a niece, Brittany Lefler.

Gary's wish was to be cremated with no services. When the snow melts, his ashes will be scattered in the mountains he loved above Annabella.
