He was a major in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and served nearly 5 years in the South Pacific during WW II.
Mr. Millhouse was originally from Wilson, NC and graduated cum laude from North Carolina State University where he was a member of Tau Beta Pi, engineering honorary society and Sigma Phi Epsilon social fraternity.
Mr. Millhouse was the Manager for Technical Services for Universal Atlas Cement for 36 years. Following his retirement there, he was a consulting engineer for 18 years with Metromont Materials, Inc, Spartanburg, SC. He was also a 50 year member of the American Concrete Institute.
Mr. Millhouse was preceded in death by his parents, Lucy and Roy Millhouse and his brother, James Irvin Millhouse. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann McCoy Millhouse of Birmingham, his daughter, Ann Millhouse Carr (Robert B. Carr, III); two sons, David McCoy Millhouse (Katherine McTyeire Millhouse) and John Kallam Millhouse (Shannon Phillips Millhouse); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Bryan, Robert, Katherine, Adam, and Audrey.
Funeral services for Mr. Millhouse will be held at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Monday, December 2, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Parrish Hall. The family will receive friends the Parrish Hall following the Service. The Committal Service will be private for family.
The family requests memorials be made to the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church Building Fund or the Birmingham Museum of Art, Education Department. Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood (205-879-3401) will be providing services to the family.
