Eric W. Evans, 48, of Clover, S.C,. formerly of Wapakoneta, died at 11:30 a.m., Monday, Aug. 22, 2011, at Davis Regional Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a single vehicle accident Monday morning.
He was born Sept. 29, 1962, in Lima, the son of Virginia (Bogart) and Thomas D. Evans. His mother, Virginia Sockrider survives in Wapakoneta, along with his step-mother, Sandy Evans. His father, Tom Evans and his step-father, James Sockrider are both deceased.
Also surviving are a fiancée, Debra Miller, of Wapakoneta; a sister, Beverly "Bev" (Jerry) Rockwell, of Norwalk; three brothers, Aaron (Jessica) Evans, of Chino Hills, Calif., Darin (Rachel) Evans, of Chandler, Ariz, James (Tammy) Sockrider, of Lima; six nieces and nephews, and a very close friend, Dave "Tiny" Bannon.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Tammy Evans and Anita Sockrider.
He worked as a machinist at Machine Tool Systems, Charlotte, N.C. He was an avid NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed restoring old cars and watching football.
Services are at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, the Rev. Steven Nelson officiating.
Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Contributions may be given to the Auglaize Co. Humane Society.
