PURPLE HEART RECIPIENT
Robert was born on December 18, 1931, in San Jose, Ca. He passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at age 80. Robert was a decorated soldier having received the Purple Heart while serving in Korea. He was very proud to defend his country. After the military, Robert moved to San Joaquin where he worked in the farming industry until his retirement. He then moved to Fresno, where he enjoyed spending time with family, friends and his "dog buddies" Taco, Kiki, Kelly and Lulu.
Robert enjoyed going to the farmer's markets, gardening and sports. He is survived by his son, Robert Matts, Jr. and his wife Stephanie; his daughters, Brenda Chaffee and her husband David, Patty Bennett and her husband Jerry; and his granddaughters, Lisa Hart and her husband Ryan and Michelle Chaffee.
A Funeral Service will be held at Peoples Church, G.L. Johnson Chapel, on Tuesday, June 19, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens. Remembrances may be made in Robert's name to the donor's favorite animal charity.
