MAYSVILLE, Iowa — Mary K. Baumer, 54, a resident of Maysville, died Monday, January 16, 2012, at Genesis Medical Center-West Central Park, Davenport. She was surrounded by her family and passed following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday, January 20, 2012, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will be in the Maysville Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. There will be additional visitation Friday in the Gathering Space at the church from 9:15 a.m. until time of services.
Mary Katherine Boone was born December 8, 1957, in Davenport, a daughter of Theodore Edward and Margaret Ann (Lee) Boone. She was united in marriage to Bruce Jack Baumer on December 9, 1978, in Davenport.
Mary had been a federal employee for 33 years. She served with TACOM at the Rock Island Arsenal.
She loved watching her grandchildren in all of their activities and she especially cherished the "girl time" shopping with her mother at NorthPark Mall. They were known far and wide by many merchants at various malls and shopping centers!! Playing Bingo was also a favorite hobby, where she could also spend additional time with family and friends.
Memorials can be made to the Maysville Volunteer Fire Department.
Those left to honor her memory include, her husband of over 33 years, Bruce; sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeremy Scott Baumer, Maysville, and Steven Michael and Kathleen Baumer, Lowden, Iowa; grandchildren, Katelynn and Jeremy Baumer, and Theodore Baumer; her parents, Ted and Margaret "Maggie" Boone, Davenport; a sister-in-law, Beth O'Connell, Imperial, Missouri; and her beloved canine companion, Chula.
