He was born in Lebanon, Indiana, 8 January 1928, and was the son of the late Cleon Chester Sheets, Sr. and Helen Marie [Williams] Sheets.
A life long resident of Boone and Clinton Counties, Mr. Sheets attended Lebanon schools. He lived many years in Colfax, Indiana, and was a member of the American Legion Post in Colfax.
He was married on 10 October 1944 to Juanita Ruth Brakefield in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Mrs. Sheets preceded him in death on 21 October 1980.
Mr. Sheets was self-employed for 35 years in Sheets and Sons Trucking, and he retired from Union 76 in 1990 after 15 years of employment.
Cleon will always be remembered for his zest for life and cruising in his beloved pick-up truck and old Lincoln Town car. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, and traveling.
He was survived by a son, Charles Edward Sheets, Martinsville; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Ann Cox, Lafayette; six grandchildren, Danny Lee Sheets, Jr., Heather N. Stephens, Charlene D. Myers, Charles E. Sheets, Jr., DeeAnn M. Mulvey, Carla J. Chitwood; eight great-grandchildren and a sister, Linda Lou Ottinger, Lyford.
He was preceeded in death by his wife and a son, Danny Lee Sheets, Sr. Interment was at Elmwood Cemetery in Romney.
