RANCHO SANTA FE —— John F. Lewis, 87, died Saturday., Oct. 13, 2005.
Born June 12, 1918, in Whittier, he was a resident of Rancho Santa Fe for 17 years. He graduated from the University of California in 1940, and was a Lieutenant in the U. S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. He was past president of the Southern California Golf Association and very active at Hacienda Golf Club an Fairbanks Ranch County Club.
Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Nancy Lewis in 2004, and one son. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Tom and Mary Lewis of Lake Oswego, Ore., John and Patty Lewis of Phoenix, Ariz., and Bill and Alyson Lewis of Altadena, Calif.; and son Stuart Lewis and Steve Hirschboeck of Westport, Conn.; brother Dick Lewis of Tustin; sister Maryellen Hastings of Laguna Hills; and grandchildren Meghan, Bridget, Kelly, Michael, Peter, Sarah and Maureen.
There will be a memorial service at 11 am. Oct. 25 at the Church of the Nativity in Rancho Santa Fe.
Memorial donations are suggested to the Nativity School Scholarship Fund in memory of John F. Lewis, P. O. Box 9180, Rancho Santa Fe, CA 92067.
El Camino Encinitas Chapel is handling arrangements.
