Olen was born in Ennis, Texas on March 20, 1928 to Olen and Kelly (Doss) Bailey. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1945. He went to the University of Texas at Austin to receive a degree in business. On June 6, 1964 he married Barbara Shaw and they made their home in Ennis. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
He worked for Southern Pacific Railroad in the engineering department. He was a loan officer for the original Ennis Savings and Loan, Landmark Savings and Southwest Savings. He was a member of the Country Club Road Church of Christ.
He will be remembered by those who loved him especially his wife of over fifty years, Barbara Bailey; son, Brad Bailey and wife, Christine; daughter, Susan Bailey Adams and husband, Robert; four grandchildren: Eli Bailey, Zachary Bailey, Bailey Adams and Charlie Adams along with many other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2015 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis.
