Annette was raised in the Franklin Hill Projects of Dorchester, Massachusetts. She graduated Hyde Park High and went on to earn an RN from the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing in 1973. She married Billy Walker on January 4, 1975, and moved to Hagerstown, Maryland where he was stationed with the US Navy at Camp David. They moved to Jacksonville, Florida in September of 1977. Their first child, Andrew Perry, was born on July 19, 1978. He married Jennifer Elizabeth Rahoviak on December 18, 1999, and they currently have three sons- Joshua Willam, Jacob Clyde, and Joseph Robert. Annette and Billy's daughter, Kate Elizabeth, was born on September 9, 1980. She married Scott Allen Wandzilak on August 16, 2003. They now have two boys- Riley Steven Walker Wandzilak born Aug 20, 2004 and Logan Scott Walker Wandzilak born May 17, 2006. Annette and Billy adopted their second daughter, Tasha Nicole, on July 28, 2003 (She was born on September 23, 1989 as Tasha Sorrell). Annette was diagnosed with Colon Cancer on September 11, 2001, and died on August 28, 2003. Annette's mother, Barbara (Phillips) Hackett is from Lands End, Cornwall, England, and her father, the late Lawrance Hackett, is from Boston, Massachusetts. She has three sisters- Pat Dennehy, Jeanne Wilson, and Wendy Hosmer, and two brothers- Michael Hackett and the late Daniel Hackett.
Funeral services were held on September 1, 2003, at Duval Station Baptist Church in Oceanway, Florida. Interment was at New Home Primitive Baptist Church in Offerman, Georgia. Bro. Steve McCoy officiated.
