Dick Melton, 84, of Roby, died in the Fisher County Hospital Tuesday afternoon, August 11, 1992 . Services were at 2:00 p.m. in the Roby Church of Christ with Darrell Hart officiating. Burial was in the Roby Cemetery under the direction of Weathersbee Funeral Home.
Born on February 3, 1908 in Roby to the late Henry Clay and Annie Melton, he lived in Fisher County his entire life. A devoted Christian, Mr. Melton was a long time member of the Church of Christ. He married Ethel LaMotte May 17, 1936 in the house he built for them on his farm west of Roby and where they spent their married life. She preceded him in death on November 17. 1982. Mr. Melton served as an original member of the Roby Cemetery Association Board and many years as treasurer for the association. His hard work and dedication to the upkeep and beautification of the Roby Cemetery was successful in making the cemetery a peaceful, resting place for our loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel; his parents Clay and Annie Melton; two brothers, Guy Melton and Arlon Melton, and four sisters, Fila Campbell, Eula Feagan, Ola McGinnis, and Claudean Piper.
Mr. Melton will be missed and his memory cherished by the many lives he touched, especially by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jane Melton of Abilene and by his grandson, Paul Melton of Rockwall; one sister, Ora Bennett of Roby, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
