Mrs. Petronella Purcell, 20 Gilbert St., Carbondale, died unexpectedly this morning in Carbondale General Hospital. Her husband, James, died five years ago.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she had resided in Carbondale most of her life. She was the daughter of the late William and Bridget Burke Smurl and a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Roland Leavitt, Carbondale, and Mrs. John Spillane, Baltimore, Md.; a sister, Mrs. James Mullaney, Mayfield; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be Saturday.
