Ellen was the 7th of 10 children of Joseph Yerion and Permelia Clark. She came with her family from Virginia to Illinois about 1847-1848, and is listed at home in the 1850 census of Peoria County, Illinois, age 3 (spelled "Yearning"). She was not listed at home 1860.
