FAIRMONT —
On Monday, June 20, 2011, surrounded by his family, Stan Lambert, 64, of Fairmont, peacefully left this world and entered the arms of Christ at the VA Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa.
This date holds a very special place in the family's heart since it's also the anniversary of his mother-in-law Alberta Muto's passing.
He was born Nov. 14, 1946, at Bowling Green, Ky., son of the late Ollie Clyde and Ivie Pearl Milom Lambert.
The legacy he's left behind includes his wife of nearly 40 years, Nieta Lambert; his daughter, Erin Lambert Oldaker, "Bean"; her husband, John Oldaker, Jr.; his "Little Buddie" Braeden Wesley Oldaker; and his "Kyla Bell," Kyla Grace Nieta Oldaker. Also surviving are his father-in-law, Albert Muto; brother-in-law, Ben Muto and wife Patti; niece, "Lindsay Pie" and husband Jesse Brookhouse; nephews, James (Buck) Muto and Andrew (Smiley) Muto; and cousins, Donna and Kenny Efaw.
Stan spent 40 wonderful years with the love of his wife, Nieta. They met on a mission team to Canada, and within 10 minutes of meeting, he said to his friend that was the woman he was going to marry. That promise was made true three months later when they dedicated their lives to one another and to God. Four years later, they had their one and only child, Erin, "Bean." Stan was a tender and loving husband, a gentle and patient father, and a doting and adoring grandfather.
He willingly devoted his life to Christ as a pastor and shepherd. He dedicated his life to helping people, turning that passion into becoming a licensed therapist.
He and his family worked as missionaries in the Netherlands. He also served our country in the U.S. Navy, spending his service on the USS Everglades as a radioman. His last employment was with the Audit Unit C.J.I.S. Division of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Clarksburg. He served over 30 years as a pastor, 20 years at Metz Church of God of Prophecy, chaplain and volunteer fireman of Mannington Volunteer Fire Department.
Stan had many interests, but his greatest was his grandchildren. Spending time with them became his passion. Teaching them about Jesus and listening to them read their Bible stories were some of the most precious moments to him. He adored his family and always looked forward to time spent with them.
Nieta and Erin would like to thank cousins Donna (Angel Lady) and Kenny for their extension of God's hands for their care and support throughout Stan's illness.
In Stan's memory, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Louis A. Johnson VA Healthcare Systems Volunteer Services Social Works, 1 Medical Center Drive, Clarksburg, WV 26307.
Friends may call at Masters Funeral Home, 209 Main St., Mannington, from 1 to 9 p.m. today. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Larry Biggers, Dr. Fred Lawson, Rev. Harry Copen and Ben Muto officiating. Burial will follow at the Grandview Cemetery. Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by the Marion County Military Veterans Council Honor Guard and the United States Navy Honor Guard. Online condolences may be left for the family at mastersfuneralhomewv.com.
