James Baggett served in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted in the 3rd Regiment Rangers South Carolina and defended the end of Sullivan's Island in June 1776, when the British launched a naval attack on the fort. He moved his family to Montgomery County, Tennesseee between 1800 and 1806. He and his wife Nancy were known to have four children. One of which is Abraham Baggett.
