MELBOURNE, FLA. — Donald Moomau Mclear Sr., U.S. Army retired Korean War veteran, a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather died Sept. 18, 2013, surrounded by his family. We will miss you Dad, Daddy, Woody, Granddaddy!

Don was born March 27, 1932, in Greenville, Va., the son of John Wesley McLear Sr. and Blanche Edmonia Moomau McLear. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1950, joined the U.S. Army prior to the Korean war and served his country bravely with honor for 42 years. Don married Mary Louise Dinkle in 1954, in Staunton and relocated to Richmond, Va. in 1959 where they raised their family.

Don is survived by his children, Ellen McLear Kelleher, Donna McLear Ludwig, Donald Moomau McLear Jr. and his wife, Melinda; grandchildren, Lacey, Avery and Connor McLear, Kristina Kraakmo, David Kelleher and Jennifer Kelleher Hamilton and brother, John Wesley McLear Jr. and his wife, Rosalie.

Family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, 2013, at the Atlee Chapel of Woody Funeral Home, 9721 Shady Grove Rd., Mechanicsville, Va., a service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013. A graveside service with military honors will be at 3 p.m. in Forest Lawn Cemetery. A reception from 4 to 6 p.m. will be at the Virginia War Memorial immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society. He was "Proud To Be An American!"
