Bellemore Justice passed away October 4, 2000 at Bayfarm Island, Alameda, California. Bellemore was born on November 23, 1910 in Seattle to Samuel & Ellen (Heide) Garness, an early Seattle pioneer family. Bellemore attended John B. Allen Elementary School, graduated from Lincoln High School, and later went on to the University of Washington, where she majored in Drama. Bellemore worked as a fashion designer and manufacturer of upscale women’s apparel. She worked at Lerners in 1937 and later at John Kirkwood Dress Manufacturing Company, Helen Rickerts Women’s Apparel, and eventually opening her own business located at 85th & Greenwood avenue. Bellemore eventually moved to Pasadena and later to San Francisco where she worked for I. Magnin Stores. She was a member of the Women’s University Club and the Women’s City Club of San Francisco. Bellemore is survived by her son, Jay Justice, of Alameda, and by loving family and friends. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2000, 12:00 Noon at Evergreen Washelli Funeral Home, 11111 Aurora Ave. N. – Seattle. Interment to follow at Washelli Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be made in Bellemore’s memory to the Women’s City Club of San Francisco Memorial Fund, 442 Post Street, San Francisco, CA 94501.
