Richard D. "Dick" Voegeli, 59, brother of Robert and Randall Voegeli, both of Valley Center, died March 13, 2008, in Charleston, S.C. Graveside service with full military honors will be March 21 at Beaufort National Cemetery.

Richard was born Aug. 23, 1948, in Wichita, the son of Leo and Marie Voegeli. He graduated from Wichita North High School in 1966 and obtained a bachelor's degree in business from Laverne College in 1980. He served in the U.S. Navy for 21 years and then worked 15 years for the SC Ports Authority.

He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Charleston Rifle Club, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and past president of Belles and Beaus.

He is survived by his wife, Hettie Darby-Voegeli of Hanahan, S.C.; sons David Voegeli of Virginia Beach, Va., Dorian Voegeli of Hanahan, S.C., and Henry Darby Jr. of Atlanta; daughters Jennifer Voegeli of Virginia Beach, Va., Alice Rutland of Columbia, S.C., and Debra Andrews of Donald, S.C.; brother Ronald Voegeli of Beaufort, S.C.; sisters Janice Lewis and Judith Marks of Newton, and grandchildren Mateo and Leno Voegeli.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Beaufort Chapter No. 12, DAV, P.O. Box 392, Port Royal S.C. 29935.

Palmetto Cremation Society of Charleston, S.C., had charge.
