Eastep, Dorothy Early

EASTEP, DOROTHY EARLY, 78 Micanopy - A celebration of Life Ceremony will be held at Dorothy's home on May 19, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. Our beloved mother, grandmother/nana, sister and friend died unexpectedly, but peacefully at her home, on April 18. Dot was a retired professional pianist and well-known piano teacher in the Micanopy and Gainesville areas for over four decades. She cherished her family, friends and many pets. Dot was lively and independent woman. She will be missed. Dot was born in Quantico, Virginia on April 15, 1929. She moved to Pennsylvania in 1945 and to Florida in 1953. Dot had many fond memories of growing up in the town of Quantico, surrounded by a Marine base and the FBI training facility. In 2005 she was pleased to visit Quantico and reunite with a close friend she had not seen for almost 60 years. She took pleasure in traveling to visit children and grandchildren in Texas, Arizona and Alberta, Canada. Dot's last weeks were also fun and enjoyable. She spoke with family members recently. She spent two weeks on a European tour to celebrate her 78th birthday. She enjoyed time with close friends, including the Lunch Bunch, during her last days. Dot and Ed served in the Peace Corps stationed in Guatemala, during the early 1980's. Dot was a charter member of the Marine Corps Heritage Foundation and supporter of the National Museum of the Marine Corps Museum in Quantico. Local volunteer activity included several positions in the Friends of the Micanopy Library, the Micanopy Mad Hatters Red Hat group (Queen), Micanopy Homemakers Club (FAHCE) and the Micanopy Fall Festival Committee. Dot was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Edgar Daniel Eastep, in December 1999, and by her parents Ben and Grovie Early. She is survived by daughter and family, Susan and Charles Ramirez (sons Danny and Frank), son and family Michael and Bush Eastep (son Benjamin), brother and family Benjamin and Shizuno Early (daughter Nancy Byron). If desired, donations may be made in Dorothy's name to the Friends of Micanopy Library (352-466-3122), or to a charity of your choice. The family wishes to express their thanks to Dot's many friends who made her life enjoyable, especially the last few years when she and her pets lived alone in the Micanopy family home.
