He was the son of William J. and Elizabeth (Van Howeling) Wagner, and graduated from the University of Iowa at Ames, Iowa, with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry.
He was a retired research engineer at Hauserman Company and was a member of Victory Assembly of God.
Surviving are his children, Donald H. Wagner of Akron, Lt. General Robert Wagner of Fort Bragg, N.C., William D. Wagner ofBitly, Mich., and Dr. Janice D. Wagner of Kernersville, N.C.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
His wife Mildred L. Wagner, died Sept. 17, 2003. A brother, William J Wagner Jr., also died previously.
