DAVID LEE SKIMIN, 38, was killed in a Coast Guard Helicopter accident on September 4, 2008, in Honolulu, Hawaii.

His hometowns included San Bernardino, and Big Bear, CA., Kodiak, Alaska, and he was currently stationed in Oahu, Hawaii.

Survived by his wife, Sarah "Sally" Skimin; daughter, Autumn; mother and stepfather, Peggy and Titus Napoleon; father and stepmother, Tony and Vicki; stepfather, Larry Penn; brothers, James Skimin and wife, Jennifer, Danny and Kenny Penn; and sisters, Donna and Cori Penn; Grandparents, Muriel Steele, Bill and Beverly Penn of Grand Terrace, Oren and Barbara Pike of San Bernardino; aunts include Carol Scovel, Ellen Williams, Jean Hall and Linda Bartman; uncles, Greg Pike, Tim Scovel and Jay Bartman; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews; and hundreds of friends around the world.

He was a member of Oahu Water Ski Club and Elks USA. Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer by trade, surfer, paddler, shaper, fisherman, hunter, birder, free diver brewmaster and husband by choice.

Memorial Services were held in Oahu on Saturday, Sept. 13, and locally on Saturday Sept. 20, 2008, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 3860 N. Waterman Ave., San Bernardino, CA. Open to family and friends.
