Graveside funeral services for O.C. Rich Allen, age 83 will be at 2pm Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Allen Cemetery in San Augustine county.
He was born in Tunica County, Mississippi, May 14, 1928 to parents, Tom Harrison Allen & Effie Clay Potts Allen. He died on December 13, 2011 in Port Arthur, Texas. He will be buried in the family plot in San Augustine County.
He was married in 1946 to Willie Ardell Tutor (deceased) and formerly lived in Port Neches, Texas where he raised his family of five children.
Formerly of Port Neches, Bronson, Texas and Pineland, Texas, he moved to Port Neches in 1956 and worked at chemical plants many years. He worked for Port Neches Groves ISD in the maintenance department for 17 years, Groves Junior High and maintenance for Mid Jefferson Hospital in Nederland, Texas for seven years. He built several homes, and could repair autos and loved to hunt, fish and garden.
Survivors include Betty Carolyn Palermo & husband Sammy of Port Neches, Rodger Dale Allen of Beaumont, Ruby Gale Rees and husband Harry of Port Neches and Barbara Ann Bibby and husband Jerry of Brookeland, Texas, twenty four grand children & twelve great grandchildren. The rest of the familyresides in Batesville, Mississippi and they are sisters, Ida Adam, Della Austin, Idell Renfro-Simmons and Kay Pittman, brothers Bill (Bilbo) Allen, Warren (Boots) Allen, Wesely Allen & Howard Allen, also he is survived by many other relatives and friends.
